President Tufan Erhürman announced that the launch of the “Green Cyprus Again” project will take place on 10 March 2026 at the Presidential Palace’s White Hall, ahead of a nationwide tree-planting campaign scheduled for 1 April.
In a social media statement, Erhürman said that preparations for the project had been underway for a long time, noting that the initiative had originally begun before the current conflicts threatening humanity and global stability. Although the project experienced some delays due to recent developments, he emphasized that the idea of implementing it was never abandoned.
Erhürman underlined that the initiative symbolizes a broader message beyond environmental protection.
“We are implementing this project as a symbol of defending peace against war, life against death, and green against the dark clouds of war, while standing for the bright future of our children and the protection of nature,” he said.
The “Green Cyprus Again” project will be carried out under the leadership of the Presidency, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and all municipalities across the country. Communication support for the initiative will be provided by Telsim and Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell.
The nationwide tree-planting activities are planned for Wednesday, 1 April 2026, while the official launch event will take place tomorrow, 10 March 2026 at 10:00, at the Presidential Palace’s White Hall.
Erhürman thanked all institutions and stakeholders who contributed to the project, stressing that environmental initiatives such as this are vital for building a future where people live in harmony with nature and for leaving a greener island to future generations
